I can grab a bag and toss it over the back whenever I hear grumbling. Journals: I bought each of the kids a small lined bound notebook to keep a journal of our trip. This helped them practice their writing skills over the summer break as well as made a great memento after we were back home. Audio books: I saved the best for last. Audio books are the secret to this mama’s sanity. I love to read and I find it really hard to find the time to fit in a good book when the kids are in school. n a road trip a good audio book will make the hours and miles fly.

The ahu Festival line-up includes Makana Bobby Moderow Dennis Kamakahi John Cruz LT Smooth Donald Kaulia Danny Caravalho Stephen Inglis zzie Kotani Paul Togioka Ken Makuakane Jeff Peterson Dwight Kanae Walter Keale Pali Kaaihue and Slack Key Wings. The Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar Festival began in 1982 as local event to celebrate the life & accomplishments of legendary Hawaiian musician Gabby Pahinui. Since then the festival has grown into a world-wide celebration. The festival is now produced not only in Honolulu but also on the islands of Kauai Molokai Maui and Hawaii. In the past 10 years the Ki-ho’ alu Foundation has produced the event in many Mainland cities and in foreign locals that include Canada Germany France and Japan. The Ki-ho’alu Foundation was formed in 2002 to generate widespread interest in slack-key as an art form. In addition to organizing the annual guitar festival the Foundation offers scholarships to interested young people to learn slack key guitar and produces videos books & audio CDs.

From there it’s a hop across Ninigret Pond to the beach. (There is also access to the ocean through a breachway. )Now with their daughters grown the Bards have decided to spend more time at their home in Florida. Here in Rhode Island they have decided to sell their home in Charlestown and build a smaller house in Jamestown. The Charlestown house is reached via a long gravel driveway that extends off King Tom Drive named for Niantic Indian chief Thomas Ninigret. The house is a low cedar-shingled structure with gables poking out of the second floor. There are glass panels surrounding the front door which leads into a tall foyer filled with light from the large window set above the doorway.

Natalie later told Lydia that if she were a guy they would date!! Natalie says that Lydia ?intrigues? her and she now likes her. Jessie meanwhile was looking like his dreams had come true. Lydia said that Natalie has grown on her as well. The two then hugged it out. Natalie began to open up more and talk about how much she misses her father. She says she?s a tough girl but she gets really emotional when it comes to her dad. Later in the evening Lydia made grilled cheese sandwiches for both Natalie and Jessie!! Granted she voted to evict her last night but we all know she?d never go after Jessie.
