“Silicon Laboratories is quickly distinguishing itself as one of the few gold-standard growth companies in the semiconductor industry” wrote analyst Craig Berger with FBR Capital Markets who upgraded his rating on the stock to “market outperform” and raised the target price on the stock to $49 a share. Sayiner said his company is winning new customers based on its financial strength and on the technical strengths of its growing portfolio of products. The company’s strength in audio chips has grown to include more sales of its home audio and home theater products. It’s also expanding its business in the FM and AM-FM chips that go into cell phones. The company’s near-term growth prospects don’t even count on its promising TV tuner chips which are being evaluated by major television manufacturers. The chips are expected to deliver a less expensive smaller and more accurate way for television sets to tune into signals over the air and on cable systems. “We are getting very good feedback from customers” said Sayiner who expects the TV tuner chips to start shipping in commercial volumes next year.
