We can have a great time all by ourselves experiencing enough of the breathless magic seemingly designed for the young with a nice balance of activities geared more for “adults. ” In the end though you find yourself missing the kids more often than not. And after the fuss they made when we got home it’s pretty obvious we won’t get away with leaving them behind any time soon.

I knew she was too young to have a personal memory of the Tiananmen massacre; she belonged to what the Chinese called Ba Ling Hou or the post-80s generation that had grown up under Deng Xiaoping’s economic reforms. No Yuan knew nothing of that ‘event’. She never heard it discussed at home or at her university where she studied business economics. n this fourth of June only two things mattered to the Chinese the coming glory of their lympic golds and the sorrow over the Sichuan earthquake. The Tiananmen massacre was not even a memory for the young; for the old it was still a bad dream that they would not like to either remember or talk about especially with a foreigner. In fact the Tiananmen tragedy was the last thing they would like to be reminded of. The lympics and the earthquake on the other hand served an important purpose for the government and the ruling communist party.

Ronal Patch a former long-term Lebanon selectman and Glen Stadig a newcomer to the town’s political scene both have thrown their hats in the ring for the single term on the board that’s available during the election on Tuesday June 9. What stirs you to do so much communication research? How did it begin? “Early on I worked a lot on how kids acquired language how they learn a foreign language and what went on in their brains. “It’s very intriguing to figure out what people are thinking how they react to things. That’s how you communicate. This fall you will be teaching a new course intercultural communication.
