Pittsburgh Tribune-Review
Sure there’s a “Garden State” or “Love Actually” that comes around every once in awhile but for the most part this genre has produced drivel. “New In Town” one of the first rom-coms of 2009 is formulaic as well but it bustles along splendidly with the help of believable chemistry between the leads (Harry Connick Jr. and Renee Zellweger) and the scene-stealing support of Siobhan Fallon and J.

We can have a great time all by ourselves experiencing enough of the breathless magic seemingly designed for the young with a nice balance of activities geared more for “adults. ” In the end though you find yourself missing the kids more often than not. And after the fuss they made when we got home it’s pretty obvious we won’t get away with leaving them behind any time soon. Reach Chuck Barney at. com and Tony Hicks at.

Another Pixar project that earns repeated viewing is "Wall-E" predicting a future so bleak you’ll feel motivated to change it. This is animated movie making at its most sophisticated. DISNEY DELIGHTS: Kids will appreciate the cute animal characters and young heroine (voiced by Miley Cyrus) while grown-ups will relish the subtle satire of Hollywood TV show creation that is "Bolt. " It’s Disney Studios’ saga of a canine star (voiced by John Travolta) who’s been led to believe he really does have superpowers. While it played theatrically in 3-D the vivid 2-D Blu-ray version also pops through a high-def TV screen without the need to wear special glasses!Just a year separated the creation of Disney’s "Sleeping Beauty" and "Pinocchio" but the new 70th anniversary Blu-ray edition of the latter shows it to be quantum leaps advanced. The scenes in Geppetto’s workshop look especially detailed in the new edition and the enhanced color throughout is remarkable. nly the gauzy representation of the fairy who turns the puppet into a real boy and the muted soundtrack reveal the film’s age.

First Drive: 2010 Lexus HS 250h is pretty on the inside

nce inside and moving in the HS you won’t think about the way it looks. The driving experience is pretty close to awesome this being a hybrid that’ll seat four grown men with luggage and get you at least 34 mpg combined probably more with a conservative right foot. Turn the car on and you probably won’t hear a thing which isn’t unusual for a Lexus. But in this case there might actually be nothing happening – if the car doesn’t need anything other than electrical power even though you’re about to pull away it will remain silent. The only indication that all systems are go is a green “Ready” light in the gauge cluster. The car can operate at up to 20 mph on electric power alone for about five minutes so if you’re putting through a severely speed restricted area you can do it within a cloak of aural invisibility (pedestrians beware!).
