“The main purpose of the Home for Halloween campaign and its website is to remind people throughout the Bay Area that the true spirit of this holiday is to be found celebrating in one’s own community,” said San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom. “There are so many wonderful and safe events happening in all parts of San Francisco and surrounding cities. The showcase features the latest innovations in digital cameras, video cameras, security systems, sound systems, mixing boards and other technology. The booths at the trade show are staffed by sales representatives from such companies as Canon, JVC, Sharp and many others showing samples of their products. “All this technology has grown by leaps and bounds over the years,” said John Devries of Mississauga, a sales manager for Roland Systems Group of Canada, which deals in a variety of audio-visual components. Yesterday, Devries was showing off a computer-controlled audio-visual mixing board system with touch screens and hand controls. Basically, the system takes audio and video feeds from the computer and cameras to allow the operator to choose and blend elements that can be shown on the Internet or a big screen. The system is designed for use by businesses, churches, theatres and hockey arenas. Having the system set up for a hockey game would allow the operator to blend music, stock footage and live action to a big viewing screen.

PETER: Well, the field plan has been to get a lot of material out to all the different counties. And we?ve done our best to do that.
