Dedicated Website Highlights Abundant Alternatives to Halloween …
PR-CANADA.net (press release), Montenegro
“The main purpose of the Home for Halloween campaign and its website is to remind people throughout the Bay Area that the true spirit of this holiday is to be found celebrating in one’s own community,” said San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom. “There are so many wonderful and safe events happening in all parts of San Francisco and surrounding cities. This one central site allows people to find out what is happening in their neighborhoods, share their perspectives about home-grown Halloween activities and tell us why Halloween in their home area will be special through the online video contest. Videos that are submitted for the contest should be no more than one minute long, address the question of “My Home for Halloween is,” and also include the URL.

Blackpool Gazette, UK
It’s almost 30 years since The Gazette became the first provincial newspaper to launch a home grown rock band competition and with the Blackpool and Fylde music scene now as healthy as it’s been in years we have brought it back as the resort’s major competitive showcase for musical talent. With sponsorship from Bulmers Original and in association with Leisure Parcs venue the Tower Lounge on Bank Hey Street, The Gazette is presenting The Original Rock Quest 2008 as the major showcase for up and coming rock talent in and around the resort. Because of the availability of dates we’ve changed back to a tried and trusted venue for this year’s event but after thhe popularity of last year’s competition we have stayed with Friday nights – so noboody need worry about that morning after feeling. And this year the top prize in the grand final is once again a massive 1,500. So we are rolling again and as Lancashire’s longest established rock contest we are giving away more money than any other event of its kind in the area.

HDTV News, UK
I don’t know why but I always enjoyed it. Maybe it’s because they’re not so well known as, say, Samsung or Sony, but still manages to deliver exceptional products that is bang for the buck. Well, Vizio has grown significantly over the past two years. However, they still maintain a low profile in the television market. The VIZIO VO37L is one of only four 37″ HDTVs from VIZIO. This is a 720p TV as Vizio doesn’t produce Full HD 1080p TVs smaller than 42″. You might say, why 720p? Well, if you are viewing viewing 37″ TVs, you don’t really feel the difference.

The Great Podcasting Debate
Radio World, VA
For podcasts, the listener only needs to perform an online access task once, and future episodes of a repeating program series continue to simply show up on their PCs and handhelds until the listener tells them to stop. Third, podcasts are inherently portable for most users, because they usually are synced automatically between the PC on which they are initially captured and any associated handheld device(s). The latter in turn can be easily set to play into any (non-PC) audio system in the home or office, connected via wire or wireless to automotive sound systems, or used for personal listening via headphones. So unlike Internet radio, podcasts already reach almost every place that broadcast radio does — plus a few that it doesn’t (like the underground portions of a listener’s commute, for example). Consider also that, like all online media, podcasts are inherently personalized, and they allow the listener to select the content, and then pause, rewind and fast-forward it while listening — none of which is yet offered by regular radio, of course. Finally, podcasts often include some textual or graphical metadata, and some even offer segmentation for improved navigation within a long-form program (e.
