All they wanted was for Alex to have a chance to experience a normal life again. Not only has Alex Weisker returned to a normal lifestyle despite his permanent handicap, but the 2008 Southern Connecticut University graduate has been a source of inspiration for family and friends throughout Wallingford. "To watch him grown and mature, to see him overcome obstacles that would have held anyone else down, it’s just amazing," said his neighbor Gloria Caballero, who hosted a party in his honor at her 51 Wrinn St. home Sunday afternoon. "We really couldn’t be more proud of him. " Family friend Nancy Freyberg and Weisker’s high school friend Kevin Johnson both said they have been impressed with how focused he has been and said that if he can overcome struggles with life as a disabled person, then they can overcome anything.
