NANI COMMITTED TO HAMMERS ACADEMY

“We need that knowledge and I haven’t got that knowledge. “That network and infrastructure is something we are lacking at the club and will be beefed up. “It will give us as much a chance of securing home-grown talent, foreign talent, young players, experienced players, as the other clubs. “If you look at the top of the Premier League, the clubs have people out there constantly trying to bring that talent to the club. That is what we feel we need. “It will not hinder the traditions of this club but we have got to compete more,” added Curbishley.

Curbishley added: “Some players haven’t had a break all season and with the development of young players, you don’t want to burn them out. “Mark will be going off somewhere in the summer with the Under-21s so it’s another long season for him. Noble is another exciting home-grown product from the Hammers’ Academy, with teenage striker Freddie Sears the latest off the production line. Curbishley, though, is cautious about exposing the midfielder too quickly, although Noble has already chalked up some 30 first-team appearances this season and he netted the winner against Liverpool at Upton Park in January. The West Ham manager said: “We have had a couple of good chats about it because this is his first season really. He’s still a young player. “Mark came in for the final 10 games of last year and did fantastically well, then he went off to the Under-21 tournament where he was just a squad member really but he forced his way into the team and played all the games.

Saturday’s 1-1 draw at St Mirren left the Edinburgh side three points behind sixth-placed Falkirk, to whom they host at Tynecastle on Saturday. But the number of players who had come through the youth ranks to play in the first team - and who are gaining international recognition - has given Frail hope for the future. “On Saturday we had seven players in the starting 11 who had come through our system, while another was on the bench,” he told the club’s official website. “That is a notable effort and deserves a good mention as far as I am concerned.
