When it comes to purchasing produce, most Marylanders say they like it local

Produce Farmer Henry Oakley says, “You know what it’s got, where it comes from and who picked it. ”

The Maryland Department of Agriculture says a recent survey reveals 78 percent of Maryland residents are more likely to buy produce grown by Maryland farmers. Good news for Henry Oakley, a local farmer who grows pretty much everything from A to Z. Oakley says that means, “pretty much everything from apples to zucchini.

LME steel billet futureslaunched on Monday, via electronic and telephone trading, aiming to offer the$500 billion industry a hedging tool against price risk. China’s Iron and SteelAssociation has dropped its longstanding opposition to steel futures butChinese steel mills, who produce about one-third of the world’s steel, are morelikely to participate in a futures market once the Shanghai rebar and rodsfutures are launched. The Shanghai FuturesExchange hopes to offer its own contract this year and if the LME’s contractsgain traction quickly, this could boost enthusiasm among market participants.
