I hope he enjoys living in the crime infested neighborhoods of Ann Arbor. You’re absolutely right. It was one thing for Rodriguez to win at West Virginia, where he was a home grown success story. But it will never again be the same for him at Michigan. He’s just a hired gun there. MICHIGAN AND RODRIGUEZ:TWO SELL-OUTS are perfect for each other. I understand why you would call Rodriguez a sell-out but how is Mich a “sell-out” by hiring caoch Rod? For the last month we’ve been lambasted for NOT finding a coach and now you’re ripping us cause we did.

Unit One Entertainments Showcase 2007
Stage - Dec 17, 2007
Two male and two female dancers present memories of Patrick Swayze and his pliable groin area. The energy and verve with which this was presented may well keep them busy in the field of hotel and corporate work. Definitely MightBe is the name of an Oasis tribute band, who arrived armed with Manchester City shirts and lots of solid musicianship. They delivered great Gallagher impressions, while the quality of the band stood up well to musical scrutiny too. This belting set came from one of the less obvious choices for a tribute night. In short, these guys certainly captured the spirit of the real thing. On this showing Shaun Hunter doesn’t quite have the vocal ability to pull off a true George Michael vocal impression… The act looked under-rehearsed and the vocal ability just wasn’t good enough. I doubt if many bookers would view this act and declare, “you’re the one that I want”. Closing the show was a UB40 tribute act called Home Grown. This was not the tightest or most convincing of bands and perhaps some more work is required if Home Grown are to succeed. All in all, this was a showcase of two halves, with much to enjoy in part one and rather less to enthuse about as the evening wore on. In organisational terms, for the people at Unit One however, the evening was a triumph, despite the rather wobbly state of many of the revellers present. Christmas 2007: Dreaming of a green Christmas
Telegraph.co.uk - Dec 17, 2007
Next year I have decided to plant a few spruces in Devon, so hopefully we will be able to enjoy a home-grown tree at some point - even if it is in 20 years’ time. THE LIGHTSLeaving the Christmas tree lights on for 10 hours generates enough CO? to inflate 12 balloons, so buying energy-efficient lights brings immediate benefits to the environment and to your electricity bills. It also makes a good talking point for those sticky moments when family politics start to get out of hand! There’s no point in boring your friends by telling them your lights came from Tesco, but if your lights are “green” people will be interested and may even follow suit. Solar-powered lights (.

England to get full attention of Capello
Belfast Telegraph - Dec 17, 2007
"For this, the English national team comes first in my hopes for the future although I am sure that Spanish football has a bright future. " Sir Trevor Brooking, meanwhile, feels that how to "evolve the structure" of the English coaching network remains a key objective following Capello’s appointment – and not just "parachuting" someone in "for the sake of it". Although Capello – set to be officially presented at a press conference in London today – has brought with him an all-Italian back-room staff, discussions are on-going to have some home-grown presence in the England coaching ranks, with the Under-21 coach, Stuart Pearce, a leading candidate as well as Alan Shearer and Watford’s highly-rated manager Aidy Boothroyd. "I spoke to Fabio about the options and he is very relaxed about it," Brooking said. "He has a structure and we did not want to just do it for the sake of doing it. Somebody like Stuart, who has done really well in the last few months, will be very much part of the discussion to see how best to move this forward. Brooking continued: "Stuart has been doing an excellent job with the Under-21s and the experience of managing the team with tournament football is really important.

Astros GM Wade must win now and rebuild
SportingNews.com - Dec 17, 2007
“We got better without disturbing the core guys we had,” Wade said. Most significantly, the Astros will have a new spine next season. They plan on going with home-grown rookie catcher J. Towles, free-agent addition Kazuo Matsui at second and risky trade acquisitions Miguel Tejada and Michael Bourn at shortstop and center field respectively. Tejada is a gamble because he turned lethargic in recent seasons with Baltimore and could face punishment for steroid use alleged in the Mitchell report. Bourn is a gamble because he has never been a full-time player.

Bush seeks more pressure on Iran after Russia moves
Iran Focus - Dec 17, 2007
Bush said Monday that Russian deliveries of nuclear fuel to Iran only fed the need for the world to clamp down more firmly on Tehran’s home-grown atomic work. And the US State Department announced consultations Tuesday with five other powers on a draft UN Security Council resolution imposing tougher sanctions on the Islamic republic for refusing to freeze uranium enrichment. “Iran was a threat to peace, Iran is a threat to peace, and Iran will be a threat to peace if we don’t stop their enrichment,” which can be a critical step towards getting nuclear arms, Bush told a town-hall style audience here. The White House said Moscow had advised Washington about the shipments, and noted pledges from top Russian officials that the UN nuclear watchdog, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), would supervise the process. The US president said he supported the deliveries to Iran’s first atomic power station, the unfinished Bushehr plant, but stressed that they showed that Iran had no legitimate need to enrich uranium at home.

Hazel Blears MP
BBC News - Dec 17, 2007
But according to intelligence chiefs the terror threat is greater now than it was then. Hazel Blears is the government minister leading the campaign to eradicate extremism from Britain’s Muslim communities. Can politicians really influence the message coming out of the mosques?
