No club in its right mind would agree to such nonsense, so Mason was granted a release. Which brings us to the desperate Roosters. The last time Sydney City produced a home-grown footballer was when Luke Ricketson graduated from the Bondi juniors to the Roosters. Indifference forced out their other local junior, Ryan Cross, who switched to rugby and is now a fringe Wallaby. The team famous for taking great players from other clubs will field another lot of blow-ins next season, with Mason as their newest hero. They have paid him a fortune for his services and foolishly agreed to allow him to take part in the boxing bout, making a mockery of the game in the process. The Roosters will find out the hard way that Mason is impossible to control.
