She has been growing her trees at her home for more than 20 years now. The original plants from her father have been in the family for around 50 years. She has been growing her trees at her home for more than 20 years now. The original plants from her father have been in the family for around 50 years… “Those had babies and then the babies had babies,” said Wray, as some of the plants eventually were given new homes in neighboring yards. Every year she would dig the plants up in the fall (”My dad didn’t tell me how much work it would be,” she chuckled), wrap them up and put them in her back room over the winter. In the spring, she’d get them back in the ground and they’d grow, reaching taller than her front porch roof line. “My dad never had his this tall,” she said. “He would have marveled at the size of these. But if not for Wray’s fondness for giving away her plants, the banana plant legacy from her father might have died out. One year Wray decided not to dig the plants up, instead just cutting off the tops and then covering the plants with hay.
Scientists Use ‘Dark Web’ To Snag Extremists And Terrorists…
Science Daily - Science Daily (press release) - Sep 14, 2007
The speed, ubiquity, and potential anonymity of Internet media–email, web sites, and Internet forums–make them ideal communication channels for militant groups and terrorist organizations. As a result, terrorists groups and their followers have created a vast presence on the Internet. A recent report estimates that there are more than 5,000 Web sites created and maintained by known international terrorist groups, including Al-Qaeda, the Iraqi insurgencies, and many home-grown terrorist cells in Europe. Many of these sites are produced in multiple languages and can be hidden within innocuous-looking Web sites. Because of its vital role in coordinating terror activities, analyzing Web content has become increasingly important to the intelligence agencies and research communities that monitor these groups, yet the sheer amount of material to be analyzed is so great that it can quickly overwhelm traditional methods of monitoring and surveillance. This is where the Dark Web project comes in. Using advanced techniques such as Web spidering, link analysis, content analysis, authorship analysis, sentiment analysis and multimedia analysis, Chen and his team can find, catalogue and analyze extremist activities online.

Medina Mora said the price of cocaine in Mexico had also risen and the price of marijuana, which has been falling because of increased local production, had stabilized. Mexico is the main smuggling route for South American cocaine into the United States. Mexican kingpins dominate the international drug trade, also shipping synthetic drugs from Asia and home-grown marijuana into U. and European markets. Turf wars between cartels in Mexico vying for control of the lucrative drug trade have killed more than 1,600 people this year and some 2,000 people in 2006. AlertNet news is provided by.

Canada found its first home-grown case of bovine spongiform encephalopathy, or mad cow disease, in May 2003, and has since reported nine additional cases. The first of three U. cases was found in December 2003. The United States has allowed imports of Canadian beef from young animals as well as live cattle under the age of 30 months since 2005.
