The awards seek to recognise and promote best practice in public reporting and accountability across the public services, including voluntary and private sector organisations whose main activities are the provision of public services. Leeds City Council triumphed in the category for the local organisation with an annual turnover of more than £50million. The award for the national organisation with an annual turnover of less than £50million went to the Home-Grown Cereals Authority, and the category for the national organisation with an annual turnover of more than £50million went to Defence Estates. Wychavon won the award for the local organisation with an annual turnover of less than £50million, where they were up against Colchester Borough Homes and Rossendale Borough Council. This is one of four categories which are judged by leading figures from the public and private sectors. In addition to this award, the council were named the overall winners of all the groups. The award ceremony took place at the CIPFA Annual Conference, on 13 June 2007 at the Bournemouth International Centre.
