School Districts Using Home Grown Foods

A new program that works to connect schools with farmers in the state is now reaching dozens of school districts. A state law formally created it last year and is intended to get Oklahoma schools to use Oklahoma grown fruits and vegetables. The Farm to School program began with a pilot project in 2005. Shawnee, Broken Arrow, Edmond and Tahlequah school districts began buying seedless watermelons in Hinton. Tulsa and Muskogee schools joined the project at a later time. Currently schools are buying produce including honeydew melons, peaches, strawberries, lettuce, green onions, tomatoes, basil, spinach, broccoli, sweet potatoes and even asparagus.

The Ministry of Information Industry (MII) said in a statement on its website that the release of Wideband Code Division Multiple Access (WCDMA) and CDMA2000 industry standards, in addition to the home-grown TD-SCDMA technology launched last year, will provide more clarity for companies producing products and operating services based on the technologies. The former taxi driver will have to report regularly to the Australian Federal Police, with the AFP expected to also monitor his internet and telephone use. The heavily-bearded Roche left Casuarina Prison in a taxi today after serving half of a nine-year sentence for plotting with al-Qaeda to blow up the Israeli embassy in Canberra. The British-born Muslim convert was sentenced in 2004 after pleading guilty midway through his trial. His barrister, Hylton Quail, said Roche did not want to speak to the media.
