Why Gears Of War Costs $60
Forbes – Dec 19, 2006
Some gamemakers also have to pay a distributor to help get their titles in stores. There is considerable flex to those costs. Licensing fees for companies attempting to promote home-grown intellectual property–games without Spider-Man, for instance, or NFL teams–may drop down to zero. On the other hand, games that have familiar franchises often have lower marketing costs–no need to explain to most gamers what Halo is. Game publishers who survive the first couple years of the console swap-out may do awfully well. In 2011 alone, videogame industry revenue will reach $44 billion, according to DFC Intelligence analyst David Cole. That’s up from $29 billion last year.

Just once I want thewhole scene with no mess – champagne, candles and sexy lingerie. Iknow it’s only movie sex, but it’s made me want it and for manyyears that’s how I thought sex should be. Like most of us, Sarah has grown up on a celluloid diet ofpassionate kisses, romantic lighting and billowing curtains: thekind of steamy lovemaking that really only happens in the movies. So unless you’re watching a teen comedy, elbows won’t get in the way, clothes won’t be hard to remove and noone talks about condoms. Safe sex lesson aside, the movies aren’t exactly the place topick up good pointers. The sex in porn films is designed for thecamera and not for pleasure, but if you turn to Hollywood you’llalso be left, ahem, dissatisfied.
Montreal police bust telemarketing fraud ring
CTV.ca – Dec 19, 2006
The telemarketers would call people telling them they were winners, and that they needed to pay a tax ranging from $1,500 to $60,000 in order to collect their winnings. Approximately 90 per cent of the victims in this case were over 60 years of age. L’Heureux said what was particular about this scheme was that most of the victims are in the U. , while all the criminals are “home grown. ”
Further, police are seeing more and more hardened criminals becoming involved in telemarketing schemes. “Most of the people that were arrested today (were arrested) without warrants, and most of these people have criminal records related to violence or drugs,” said L’Heureux.
Neighbors felt right at home with ‘Slugger’
USA Today – Dec 19, 2006
Maybe octogenarian owl. We would talk and argue for what seemed like hours, and Slugger would sit silently by. Then, when even we had grown tired of our own voices, she would utter something very simple but often profound. It happened time and again and brought us all up short. One of her granddaughters, Alice, spoke at her memorial service and said her fondest childhood memory was cooking with Slug. Alice would talk and chop and talk and chop for hours, and Slugger would listen and nod, adding only a few words on occasion. Alice said she still wonders how Slugger could have imparted so much wisdom by saying so little.
