–> COPYRIGHT 2006 The Palm Beach Post Byline: Eve Samples Jul. 31–FIBER LINES THE FUTURE FOR INDIANTOWN: Later this year, when residents start moving into Indiantown’s first new subdivision in decades, their out-of-the-way homes will be linked to a state-of-the-art communication network. ITS Telecommunications Systems Inc. , Indiantown’s home-grown telephone company, is spending about $4 million investing in fiber-optic lines for the 97-home Sandy Oaks community and other developments in the pipeline, Chief Financial Officer Jeff Leslie said. The new lines mean the residents, from 20 miles west of Stuart, will have built-in links to high-speed Internet.
Are You a Toxic Parent?
Washington Post – Jul 31, 2006
Restricting teenagers makes no sense when they’ll be on their own in college soon enough. You’d rather be your child’s friend than an authority figureIf. If you answered “true” to any of the above, you are not alone. But that doesn’t mean you’re right… Nearly one-half 47 of persons who began drinking before age 14 were alcohol dependent at some point in their lifetime, and 13 were dependent in the past year, compared to 9 and 2, respectively, of those who began drinking after age 20. Early drinking was also related to higher rates of dependence within 10 years of onset of drinking and dependence before age 25. These findings held after controlling for family history of alcohol and other relevant factors, suggesting that “this relationship may not be solely a by-product of greater risk-taking behavior among early drinkers reflected by tobacco or drug use or predisposing psychological characteristics or disorders”
It is unconsionable for parents to encourage drinking at this age, and we need to stop genuflecting to the arrogance and self-indulgence of their parents my generation in fact who have still not grown up. There is no need or rationale to temper ones criticism of these almost predatory parents who only care about their own egos and unassuaged guilt – and accompanying addicitions.

At the bar, Carlos Cuadros, the business manager of a local real estate company, sipped a Cristal beer. He and his wife, Lula, both 57, have called Maryland home for 20 years, living a comfortable life that includes a four-bedroom home in quiet Derwood, a Chevy Suburban and regular family visits to Peru. Restaurant owner Lilian Clary topped Peruvian brandy, sugar and lime with egg whites, forming a pisco sour for the large, boisterous table beneath a wooden mosaic of old Lima. The occasion was Peru’s National Day, and Paola Bazan, 30, picked up the cocktail to toast her first independence day away from her homeland. Last year, she left a job at the international offices of BellSouth in Lima to pursue an MBA at George Washington University, and this summer she is interning at the International Finance Corp. , a division of the World Bank… visas and purchase airplane tickets here. By and large, they work as business professionals, said Peruvian Consul Manuel Talavera, who estimates that their numbers have grown by 50 percent in the past five years and puts the figure for citizens of Peru and their children, whom his office serves in the District, Maryland and Virginia, at 70,000, substantially higher than the most recent U. Many Peruvians refer to themselves and their culture as criollo , a term loosely translated as Creole or "of mixed ethnicity. " For Peruvians, though, it also connotes a spirit to do things their way.

We’re not really interested in that. ”
Sesame Street debuted in the United States in 1969. It has grown into a TV phenomenon that now airs in more than 120 countries worldwide and averages roughly 7. 5 million viewers a week. Here in Singapore, the latest 36th season is broadcast on weekdays at 12. 30pm on MediaCorp TV12 Kids Central. Clash joined the Emmy award-winning Sesame Street ensemble in the early 1980s… “There’s a full radio-controlled Elmo, there’s one for the blue screen, etc. They do different things. ”
But there will always be only one voice actor for Elmo – that is, Clash, who also works on home video productions and does audio for Elmo toys. “Filming might still go on when I’m away. I’ll just put in the voice later. ”
And just what would Elmo say to Clash if the Muppet came alive?
“Well, he wouldn’t say anything. I probably wouldn’t be around.
