These men are simply testing their weapons before buying them. Indeed, on closer inspection it becomes apparent that the kilometre-long main street is lined almost exclusively with arms and ammunition shops. These are outlets for the town’s lucrative home-grown industry: the manufacture of arms. The narrow side-streets, meanwhile, which radiate out from here to the nearby low-lying hills, are full of countless workshops, where smithies, woodworkers, polishers, engravers and other master craftsmen ply their trades. Pistols, rifles (semi-automatic and automatic) and shotguns (single and double barrelled) are all manufactured and sold here, some for as little as 30 [pounds sterling]. Some shops stock guns disguised as pens and walking sticks, others sell grenades. I’m told that if you look hard enough, you’ll find missiles and rocket launchers.

“These are stressful times,” Marissa Carcioppolo of Parma said after buying a silver Cavaliers basketball for her 5-year-old niece’s birthday at the club’s team shop at Quicken Loans Arena. “Everyone is a little bit stressed out that he’s going to leave us, but LeBron has said he wants to stay in Cleveland. He’s home-grown, and I feel like he wants to be here. “James planned to stay in town for the next few days, but he didn’t know if the Cavaliers would be meeting with his agent, Leon Rose, soon. James even joked about his high-profile agent, who represents Andrea Bargnani, taken No. 1 overall by Toronto, and Philadelphia’s.

Turner’s baritone has been compared to that of Travis, who also has had mainstream country success with a more home-grown style of music while maintaining a position as one of country music’s top gospel performers. Travis, Turner says, “was my first big hero. He grew up in North Carolina, about three hours from my hometown. He’s a down-to-earth guy who has a wonderful story. He’s a great traditional performer who plays simple country music, and he’s always been a big influence for me.

CUB and another customer group, the Wisconsin Industrial Energy Group, oppose any proposal to change a state law designed to guard against takeover of Wisconsin utilities. Industry trade publications are now pointing to Wisconsin’s utility holding company law as a potential model for protecting utility customers from too much merger and acquisition activity, said Todd Stuart, executive director of the Wisconsin Industrial Energy Group, a group representing some of the state’s top manufacturers. “There’s interest by other states in what our law is and what it does, as a way to protect home-grown companies,” he said. Weyers has said he would like to see changes to the law, but other utilities aren’t advocating that at this time. Though some see an obstacle in the Wisconsin holding company law, Klappa and Weyers said there are some circumstances under which a Wisconsin utility could be bought out. Klappa said he doesn’t think the law “would necessarily prevent a merger that makes economic sense. ”
But Klappa doesn’t consider his company vulnerable to takeover, and he has stressed that to his employees.

(US) By Tom Berg, Truck Editor GM includes full-size SUVs in its boosting use of corn-derived ethanol to get us away from imported oil General Motors is bullish on ethanol, and top executives feel they have some good reasons. Alternative fuels can help us get away from oil, and a logical variety is ethanol refined from corn and other home-grown crops. It could put a big dent in the oil market, resulting in fewer geopolitical problems and lower energy prices. GM is putting its money where its mouth is, building cars and trucks that can burn an ethanol-gasoline mixture. These include pickups and sport-utility vehicles that are commonly used in the construction industry. One is the 2007 GMC Yukon XL you see here.
