FG reveal plans to boost bio fuel industry
Ireland Online – May 6, 2006
Mr Naughten hit out at the government accusing them of having negotiated away the livelihoods of farmers without lifting a hand to address the structural problems within the current system. “The fact is that during this Government’s watch agriculture and food production has declined and farm communities are collapsing,” he said. The government was accused of being more interested in attracting foreign investment than supporting home-grown employers. “Is it any wonder we have seven farmers a day exiting the land,” he asked. Mr Naughten singled out labelling of food as another issue to be addressed. “How can we continue to tolerate a situation whereby beef is imported from Brazil, lamb from New Zealand, chicken from Asia, vegetables from Israel and being passed off as Irish due to loopholes in our food labelling laws,” he said. He also signalled plans for a single super food agency which would co-ordinate and oversee all aspects of the Irish food industry instead of the plethora of current government bodies and agencies.

Seattle Times – May 6, 2006
They wowed people in 2004 with the release of their first album, “She Like Electric,” lauded for its accessible pop tunes and intelligent lyrics. They’ve performed at major Seattle venues like the Showbox, have toured nationally and abroad, and are adored by those in the Seattle music scene. But a peek into the sisters’ bedrooms reveals two girls who live a home life that is not exactly glamorous… ”

They will be in several West Coast cities with the Eels at the end of May and June (they’re playing the Showbox in Seattle June 4). Then they launch another European tour at the end of June. While they say they haven’t grown tired of performing, they can get sick of being on tour and in the car all the time. As for each other, spending all their time with a sister is just the way life works. When asked how they get a break from each other, Chloe said, “We don’t. ”

(From Irish Independent) MIDDLESBROUGH chairman Steve Gibson will step up his search for a new manager to succeed Steve McClaren next week. Martin O’Neill, Alan Curbishley, Sam Allardyce and Paul Jewell have all been linked with the job – along with former Boro defender Tony Mowbray, who has quietly gone about the business of establishing himself in management with Hibernian. His appointment would fit in with Gibson’s.
