An Evening with Perpetual Groove
SFStation.com – Feb 18, 2006
The band’s sound blends thoughtful songwriting with mind-bending instrumental exploration, a heavy dose of funk, elements of soaring jazz, a mix of trance-like rhythms, and extensive modern looping that creates a hypnotic and addictive groove. Forming in 2001 as the "house band" and weekly open mic hosts at their local Savannah music joint, the quartet proceeded to propel its reputation for energetic live shows through live CD trading and online music downloads. Today Perpetual Groove performs at clubs and festivals across the U. as well as Japan, where the band completed a successful first tour in summer 2005, and their debut studio album, Sweet Oblivious Antidote (Harmonized Records 2003), continues to sell well on the Home Grown Music Network. maker of once-favourite Volga cars — to set up a joint venture car
assembly operation in
Moscow. Mahindra plans to

ToI. Though final discussions
of equity sharing is yet to start, M&M plans to hold a majority stake in the
joint venture company, sources said.

Home alone in my shed – and I’m still using enough carbon for six…
Times Online – Feb 18, 2006
com, got me into a terrible temper. It offers to show “how many planets we would need if everyone lived like you”, yet the questions are pathetically open to cheating. How do I know what is a “relatively normal” heating bill or “average” household waste? Do I get no credit for our compost heap or the ten trees we just planted? More pressingly, does our fortnightly junk-mail bonfire count as recycling or plain pollution? On the other hand, why is it that even if I state “fresh and locally grown” food, I am heavily penalised for not being vegan? On a global scale you can claim that cattle ranching has destroyed forests, but in Europe there is plenty of sustainable meat (wild and farm-reared) for the human omnivore, and it may be less selfish to eat that than to import soy. Indeed this particular site reeks of simplistic veggie self-righteousness, making no allowances at all for decent occasional meat. The moment you admit to any at all, the graphic whacks on a whole extra planet, bang! Seems unfair that some pallid smug Gwyneth-Paltrow clone, despite her festoons of must-have designer bags and limos, gets credit for vegetarianism while an honest hill-farmer’s wife, who wears the same pinny for 40 years but likes a slice of mutton from the moors, gets accused of trashing the planet. I scored just under three planets. In the end, by pretending to halve the electricity bills and mileage and never travel abroad — flying is the killer, just look at the CO2 you emit on a Ryanair weekend to Prague — I got down to one-and-a half… I shall be meaner with petrol. The house’s fuel consumption made me shudder and order solar panels. The problem now is how to pay for them without leaving home or getting warm. I suppose I can just sit here typing in fingerless gloves. It’s cold now I’ve switched the heater off, even with the dog lying selflessly across my feet. I would say “Roll on global warming” but the first effect will probably be to cancel the Gulf Stream and make it even colder. I’ve rarely felt so doomed.

No More Additional Cases of Mad Cow Disease in Canada
MedIndia – Feb 18, 2006
The cow was home-grown and six-years old. The results of the investigation were that there were no additional cases of mad cow disease found in Alberta. Gary little, acting senior staff veterinarian for the CFIA led the extensive investigation. The team studied about 156 cohorts, cattle from the birth farm born 12 months before or after the infected cow. Out of this number only 38 were located alive on various Alberta farms.
