Wenger way is perfect for the beautiful game

But then he is French, so why should he have any care of duty for the English national team? As Arsenal are one of England’s leading clubs, you would hope they would set an example. I have a lot of friends who are Arsenal fans and I know they would like to see more home-grown talent. But the way Wenger’s teams play, with such great technique, it is not surprising that he has preferred foreign players because Englishmen are not renowned for their technical gifts. He has also had his fingers burnt with English players, most notably in Francis Jeffers, who cost £10 million, Richard Wright and Jermaine Pennant. But he has paid a lot of money for Theo Walcott, who one hopes will become an international star. Despite his lack of first-team chances, you can already see he has immense talent and under Wenger’s guidance, you know he will come good.

The creators of Ottawa’s favorite home-grown pastry, the beavertail, are celebrating 25 years as part of the city’s annual Winterlude festival. Owners Grant and Pam Hooker of BeaverTails Canada hosted the public and some of the original staff from the first BeaverTails Rideau Canal operation on Dow’s Lake near the Bronson Bridge on Friday. Special AnniversaryTails, garnished with chocolate and silver sprinkles, were served to guests from a working replica of the first ice-level BeaverTails shack, erected on the canal 25 years ago. BeaverTails are pastries made from whole wheat flour and “loosely shaped like the business end of Canada’s national symbol,” according to the owners. They are now a popular fixture at winter and summer events around Ottawa.

Quite a commendable accomplishment for a home-grown McAllen band made up of high school students (three seniors and a junior). Victor Gutierrez (guitar and vocals) and.

At the back, under the dustsheet, behind the collection of records that should never have had my hard-earned pennies spent on them. Still, I learnt not to scrape the bottom of the Woollies bargain bin a long time ago. It’s a lesson I’ve still to take to heart when it comes to rugby… Yup, our Kiwis are still in town, not bothering themselves with any of this Six Nations nonsense. Wasps’ famous policy of bringing on home-grown talent, on the other hand, backfires somewhat during the international season when half their side gets called up. Yes, they managed to beat us at the Gardens during the autumn internationals but then they had Dallaglio in their side: a man savvy enough to notice that Ruddy was struggling badly with an injury and that the next attack should go down his wing. Wasps indeed scored through Reddan, but it was Dallaglio’s vision that set up the try. He will be a big miss for Wasps.
