Franchisers have been scrambling to set up shop there and capture a piece of the rapidly growing consumer economy. Sales by the 10 largest franchise operators in China grew by 40 percent last year, according to the China Chain Store & Franchise Association. But London gallery-owner Rupert Maas believes that his visionary genius is equally accessible to anyone who can appreciate fine draughtsmanship.
