[ILLUSTRATION OMITTED] Heritage Plumbing and Heating’s unique apprentice program includes a contractual commitment, similar to a military enlistment. After 90 days of hire, the apprentice must make a commitment to complete the training program or compensate the company for its training costs. This home-grown training and recruitment has evolved into a program that steadily produces skilled talent, an excellent company culture with an excellent retention factor. Heritage is a 19-year-old company that has grown to near $8 million in sales a year and has enjoyed a growth rate of over 22 percent in the last three years. The company is owned and operated by three brothers: Craig and Steve Chartier head the installation department; Jeff Chartier leads the service department together with his service manager, Jeff Ricker. Whizkids back for Broncos
Richmond and Twickenham Times – Sep 1, 2005
Nigerian-born Adebisi came through London Skolars Community Schools programme and joined the Broncos Academy in 2002. He also toured Australia in the summer of 2004 for the BARLA U18s and made his top-flight debut for the Broncos in the final game of the 2004 season at Leeds. Both will join their former teammate Joe Mbu, another home grown player who returned to the capital after being loaned to Huddersfield in 2002 and Leeds Rhinos in 2003. Broncos’ next home game at Griffin Park, against Huddersfield Giants, on Saturday (6pm) is live on Sky Sports. For tickets call 0871 222 1132.
The secret to Smokey Bones’ success
St. Petersburg Times – Sep 1, 2005
Not a squash medley on the side, but asparagus with smoked brisket and corn bread. And servers cleverly set out brown bags for bones. Barbecue has built home-grown regional chains for years. Our biggest is Gainesville’s Sonny Tillman, with a hundred Sonny’s Real Pit Bar-B-Qs across the South. Smokey Bones’ legend of origin is in the Rocky Mountains. Its cookers are the Southern Pride brand made in Illinois (and in wide use, including at Sonny’s), which means there’s more smoke outside the building than in. The meat that emerges has the telltale pink ring of true smoking, but isn’t as moist and tender as it should be.
