Typically, vendors such as SAP provide consulting services that stress the need for companies to prepare people for adopting change management without which an ERP implementation might just fail. This is however not the case with companies developing home-grown systems. Clearly, in-house ERP is an alternative for companies to fill in gaps left by packaged ERP. Powell, who is in Thailand to deliver a speech on A New Vision for the World to a private-sector forum in Bangkok today, asked Thaksin about the situation, and whether it was linked with regional terrorism. When he was told that it was a domestic problem, he was relieved, Thaksin said, adding that this assessment agreed with that of US intelligence, which also said the violence was probably homegrown. Despite Thaksins assurance, some of the prime ministers own security officials say there are growing indications that links do exist with regional networks, especially in the areas of finance, training and ideology. They cite the increasingly sophisticated employment of explosive devices.
