Unlike the other groups, these Sunnis boasted street credibility and valuable inroads into the nationalist, Iraqi-led resistance movement. If included in the government, Shiite leaders gambled, these men could rein in the home-grown insurgency, allowing U. and Iraqi forces to concentrate on the deadlier, al-Qaida-backed movement. But they had to work fast because Iraqi — and the Bush administration’s — patience was wearing thin. Several weeks after the elections, al-Jaafari and the Dialogue Council began intense negotiations.

All made of high-quality polar fleece ordered from Malden Mills in Massachusetts, no two of Greenwood’s items are exactly alike. Greenwood’s brightly colored slippers, hats and jackets are displayed in a window of their own at Home Sweet Home, Wasilla’s new crafts cooperative. The store was opened April 9 by entrepreneur Liz Muth. While many customers initially come to buy baby items, they come back after a year or two to buy for themselves too, Greenwood said.
