The new rules will apply only to clubs playing in Champions League and UEFA Cup matches but UEFA hopes the policy will be introduced at domestic level in the near future. From the start of the 2006-07 season clubs must include four home-grown players in their 25-man squads with the figure rising to six in 2007-08 and eight in 2008-09. UEFA defines home-grown players as those who have been trained by their clubs or by another club or national academy in the same country for at least three years between the ages of 15 and 21. Keeping in line with European Union law, the nationality of the players is immaterial…

China’s first home-grown private plane ends test flights

The Xiaoying 500, or “Eaglet 500″, took 339 flights over the past nine months to test its airworthiness and the functioning of its steering system. The tests were conducted at an aeronautics testing institute in Xi’an. Sources with China Aviation Industry Corporation (AVIC) say that mass production of the plane will start next month. 24 will be made before the end of this year.

In its decision, the court found the Spanish football league was wrong to subject Russian players to restrictions on the number of non-EU players teams may field, reports the Financial Times. Lawyers and officials said the ruling would certainly have an impact on the 77 countries in Africa, the Caribbean and the Pacific that are subject to the EU’s quota agreement, as well as North African states such as Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia.
