I still have fond memories of my performances at the Hiltons former location (currently known as Mutiara Hotel). I started out as a singer there, said Anita in an interview at the hotels new address at KL Sentral in Kuala Lumpur. Anita will perform a 45-minute set accompanied by a seven-piece band led by Helen Yap and three back-up vocalists. The 53-year-old singer admitted that her show in Hilton was a last minute arrangement. Im supposed to be in Las Vegas now for a one-month holiday but when the offer from Hilton came, I couldnt say no. I have a long history with Hilton. Agreeing to perform at the last minute was a break from the norm for Anita.

There’s a method to ‘Madness’ musical, and it works
San Diego Union Tribune – Apr 15, 2005
"Reefer Madness" is a slightly different case. Neither a classic play, novel nor movie, never a hit, it's more a case of classically awful camp, a 1936 anti-marijuana propaganda film, so far over the top, so badly acted and directed, so cheaply made and so wrong on the facts it induces its own peculiar giddy high…
In 1997, writers Kevin Murphy and Dan Studney decided that "Reefer Madness" might also be material for a tongue-in-cheek stage musical, and the resulting production enjoyed a year-and-a-half Los Angeles run and won several awards. A New York staging was less successful, but no matter. Showtime decided that "Reefer Madness" would be just the ticket for its own first home-grown musical. TV REVIEW”Reefer Madness” The 1936 cult film is now a musical;8 and 10 p. tomorrow on Showtime.

Judging by the loudspeaker system (three megaphones tapedprecariously to a pole), it seems a long way off. In Melbourne tomorrow night, however, Australian rodeo will comeof age, with a grand-scale event that’s worlds away fromHeathcote’s rugged simplicity. Held at Rod Laver Arena, the State of Origin International Rodeowill see riders from the US, Canada, New Zealand and somehome-grown Aussie talent face off against the top bucking livestockin the country. “We’ve got a star-studded line-up of the best rodeo contestantsthat have been assembled on Australian soil at any one time,” saysthe event’s promoter and rodeo announcer, Russell Greene. “We wanted to take (the rodeo) to the very best venue Australiahad. Rod Laver Arena fits that bill, and we’ve left no stoneunturned. Greene, who heads Extreme Rodeo Action with partner BrianBentley, says his rodeos are streamlined events with action from goto hoe(down).

Complex path to democracy
CubaNet – Apr 15, 2005
It renders simple what is complex. Anyone familiar with Cuba knows about the invasion. Few can say much about the home-grown insurgency (1960-1966) in the Escambray Mountains and other rural areas. Bandidos, the Fidelistas called them, but they were mostly veterans of the anti-Batista movement, peasants and other citizens of humble origins fighting for freedom. Their actions truly imperiled the revolutionary government. Sadly, the invasion that took place 44 years ago on Sunday may have unintentionally undercut them. The late Enrique Baloyra (1942-1997) — life-long democracy activist and scholar — pointedly grasped the dilemma:"I don’t think that there was a hell of a big chance in April 1961 for us to overthrow the government.
