Transition Bikes UK
OUTDOORNEWSWIRE – Apr 12, 2005
We are riders first, and our products are the offspring of the types of riding we are passionate about. On 7th April 2005 it was announced that Transition would be coming to the UK, under the banner Transition Bikes UK I’m really stoked as Transition Bikes are just the kind of company I wanted to be involved with, a small, home grown bike company with big aspirations and a high level of service, having been a customer of theirs, I experienced it first hand. I will continue to bring these frames into the UK and offer the same level of service, whilst still offering the UK consumer the same good value our US customers experience! Our frames offer rivalling, if not better quality than most bikes costing 3 times as much, they also offer a unique ride and feel that is hard to come by! The bikes are seemingly made for the UK’s conditions, and are made to withstand anything you can throw at it and come back chomping at the bit for more! I’ve been riding bikes since 1992, and I seem to have been on the continuous search for my soul bike, until I got my Preston! So Transition Bikes UK is also a home grown company, ran by riders for riders, and I’m proud to be on board! On our new site we bring you the full range of Transition Bikes, we have build options or we can leave the building and speccing up to you, by just supplying you our frames! The main thing is ride it, ride it hard, ride it fast, ride it how you want it without any corporate piffle! Please browse the new online ordering facility where you can order our frames with the options of speccing forks, full builds and accessories! Why make the Transition? Unique Price Point. We provide high quality freeride bikes at affordable prices. Our price point rivals the big name brands and stands out as a non-corporate alternative. Rider Owned Company. Being rider owned does make a difference! Our product lineup comes from years of experience actually riding and figuring out what really works and what doesnt.
Brown faces his day of reckoning
Telegraph.co.uk – Apr 12, 2005
Yet economic growth is now picking up in the euro-zone and Japan and it has continued at a robust pace in America. Only in the UK has there been a marked deterioration. So a significant part of our economic slowdown is home-grown. There is no mystery about the reasons. As well as having their real incomes eaten into by higher inflation, some of which is due to higher energy prices, UK consumers have been hit by a combination of a higher tax take (plus the threat of higher taxes to come), a slowing housing market and a burgeoning debt burden, and all this in the context of growing worries about pensions, which Lord Turner’s report last week served to confirm. In the circumstances, it would not be surprising if growth remained subdued for some while yet. The forecast lapse | Fiscal prospects | Tax rises ahead?.
Native Giants rise to rare opportunity
San Francisco Chronicle – Apr 12, 2005
They’re starting to give guys opportunities, and we’ve got to make the most of it. After Bill Mueller was traded to the Cubs following 2000, it took four years for another home-grown Giant (in this case Feliz) to have a 400-at-bat season. None of the other 29 major-league teams experienced such a drought, which was rooted in general manager Brian Sabean’s organizational thinking. His draft philosophy always has been to snag pitchers, pitchers and, for good measure, more pitchers. The best pitching prospects have risen through the system and reached the majors, while many of the rest became commodities, bait to acquire more established players via trade. Good pitchers are harder to find, Sabean reasoned, so it was best to stockpile them.
China mulls 3G options
Inquirer – Apr 12, 2005
China is trying to pump up its native cellular infrastructure suppliers, particularly Huawei, which won its firstEuropean W-CDMA contract for the Dutch operator, Telfort, last year. Chinese manufacturers are therefore keen toembrace W-CDMA as a 3G technology. The country is also bound to support TD-SCDMA, which it is its own home-grownversion of 3G. Then there’s CDMA2000 which is popular close to China’s own borders in both Japan and South Korea. So if Mr Tian isright and there are only three 3G licences up for grabs, they might be awarded purely on a technological basis. It will be interesting to see what Beijing actually does over the next two months.

“And yet they still bought a car from me. ” Every city seems to have at least one car salesman who serves as his own TV pitchman. These home-grown commercials at times feature all the refined subtlety of a red honking nose. Three Stooges physical humor. However, to dismiss Christensen and his ilk as mere clowns overlooks their promotional genius.
